Chintu Ka Birthday is an Indian Hindi-language comedy-drama film written and directed by Devanshu Kumar and Satyanshu Singh. I want to thank the entire AIB team for producing such a brilliant movie. Bollywood needs many independent writers who are not held down by the big studios.
The movie is set in 2004 Baghdad when American troops have occupied Iraq. The movie revolves around the birthday of a cute little boy named Chintu. The whole family is planning something to celebrate the 6th Birthday of Chintu. Suddenly there is a blast outside your house. Two American troops came inside their house in the search of insurgents. The movie takes a different turn after their entry. It doesn’t take us long to be drawn into their world and the writers employ a gamut of dramatic incidents and styles to keep the narrative moving forward rapidly.
The way the story has been depicted from a 6 year old boy's perspective is amazing. Madan Tiwary played by Vinay Pathak is the patriarch of the family. Vinay Pathak's performance is natural and convincing. He has done a wonderful job. Tillotama Shome plays Sudha Tiwary who is chintu's mom. Her performance is also brilliant. Bisha Chaturvedi plays the role of Laxmi. Even though she got a small screen presence, her performance can be appreciated. She loves her brother very much. The directors made this film with a big heart and draw strong performances from a majority of their cast. I cannot stop singing praises of Chintu Ka Birthday, a film that is as sweet as the marvelous vertically scrolling animation snippet that takes you into itself at the beginning softly narrated by Vedant Chibber the innocent-looking young boy who plays Chintu.
