Sir is a 2018 Hindi language Indian film written and directed by Rohena Gera. The movie stars Tillottama Shome and Vivek Gomber. The movie is streaming on Netflix.
The movie is a story about Ashwin( Played by Vivek Gomber) and Ratna( Played by Tillottama Shome). Ashwin is passionate about writing and he came back to India exists after knowing the fact that his brother is not well. Ratna is a self-independent woman who works as a housemaid in Ashwin's house. She wants her young sister to study because she herself could not study because of her marriage. She aspires to be a fashion designer.
The movie beautifully depicted how society exists in India. Society is divided into different groups based on income and people of different groups in the society follow certain societal rules and regulations. It beautifully shows how people in our country are oppressed by the norms of society, the responsibilities of people, and how the opinions of other people affect ours lives. The social stratification shown in the movie was disturbingly true and kudos to the writer, director, and actors for handling the subject so beautifully.
This is not a typical Bollywood love story lovestory where there is a hero, heroine and villain. It is a simple realistic love story. The romance shown between the two is beyond imagination yet so simple. The movie is slow-paced and glorifies every emotion beautifully. Both the leads of the movie acted exceptionally well. The chemistry between the two lead actors is fabulous despite the fact that they share very little dialogue between them. This is because the screenplay of the movie is so beautifully written and the direction by Rohena Gera is top-notch.
There is no unnecessary drama in the movie. The movie ends on a positive note and she fulfills her dreams. The last scene where Ratna called Ashwin and finally called him by his name for the first time is so simple and pure yet so satisfying. Beautiful movies like SIR always go unnoticed by the audience. I would recommend this film to anyone who appreciates thoughtful, insightful stories.
