Liar's Dice

Liar's dice is a movie about the journey of a mother and her small daughter in the search of her missing husband who goes missing for five months. The movie is directed by Geetu Mohandas on her directional debut. The movie features Geetanjali Thapa who plays Kamala, Nawazuddin Siddique who plays Nawazuddin and Manya Gupta who plays Manya.

Both Kamala and her daughter live in a village called chitkul located in Himachal Pradesh. Her husband is missing for the last 5 months and has not talked with him since then. So she takes help from nawazuddin in finding her missing husband.

The movie revolves around the hardship faced by the lower hierarchy of the human society. In real society, only people with money hold eternal power. Poor people are therefore powerless. They have to face the atrocities of the cruel world. The movie is shot in a naturalistic realism and every character breathes an air of realism in this movie. The movie captures Himachal some natural beauty of Himachal Pradesh. The beautiful shots captured by the cinematographer are quite soothing.

The movie pulls the audience towards the struggling life of a mother who tries to live a normal life and wants to restore a life she once had. The movie is for those audiences who want to understand the lives of the poor. Liar's Dice is an audiovisual experience of cities that most films won't show.

In India, only movies with big-budget get noticed by mass audiences. Geetanjali Thapa gives a stellar performance in Liar's Dice. Liar's Dice went on to receive two National Film Awards at the61st National Film Awards: Best Actress, for Geetanjali Thapa, and Best Cinematography, for Rajeev Ravi.

This is one of the most underrated and finest bollywood movies I have ever seen. Direction, Cinematography, and acting performances were impeccable. Nawazuudin Siddique gave proper justice to his role. Geetanjali Thapa is the showstopper of the movie.
