Welcome Home is a reflection of the society in which we live. It mainly focuses on the domination of males over females. I think this is by far one of the best horror psychological thriller movies ever made in India. Other good Hindi movies in this genre are Ugly, Game Over, Phobia, 13B, etc.

The movie is directed by Pushkar Sunil Mahabal. It features an ensemble cast of Kashmiri Irani, Swarda Thigale, Shashi Bhusan, Tina Bhatiya, Boloram Das, Akshita Arora. The locations, background score, direction - everything is top-notch. The acting performances especially by the lead actors both Kashmiri Irani and Swarda Thigale are extremely powerful.

I want a big applause for Ankita Narang who has written such a beautiful and gripping story. Two government school teachers Anuja and Neha have been assigned the job to count the family members in different houses in Maharashtra. They go to different assigned houses one by one to do their census job. They finally reach a secluded house. There was something weird about the house. The people living inside the house were also strange. They suspected something strange happening inside. Inside the house we can see amma who seems to be the matriach of the family. There is preganant lady named Prerna. We come across Bhola who cooks food for the family. There is a man in his 50s who does not speak anything and seems to be the patriach of the family.

In the movie we can clearly see that every male character is dominating the female character in some way. Anuja is being forced by her fiance to quit her teaching job. Even neha is being dominated by her brother. Later on she also shares the story his mother who was beaten by his father.

In the movie we can see two facets of the lead character Anuja. Initially she seems to be a simple women who is being dominated by both his dad and fiance. The mind fucking situation inside that weird house transformed her into a new avatar. The performance of Bolaram Das who played Bhola can't be ignored. He is the most creepiest guy in the entire movie. He is a sex-deprived and extremely deranged character. Both Shashi Bhusan and Bolaram Das act in tandem to show up their twisted and complex world in the most unimaginable way.

"Welcome Home" shows the bitter reflection of the society in which we live in. Even though the movie has a low budget, the makers have done a beautifull job by presenting such a good movie. Sony Liv has done a tremendous job by providing us with such a beautiful & well directed film. Hollywood has been constently producing high quality psychological horror thriller movies like US, Get Out, Mother etc. I think "Welcome Home" is the biggest surprise of 2020. The audience of India should change and appreciate good movies.
